The tide runs in her veins, and the salt in the air rights her compass. Jenny Sharp didn’t just grow up on the water—she was raised by it. Long before she made it official with a captain’s license seven years ago, Jenny had already spent a lifetime navigating the winding rivers and shifting tide lines of our coastal home. To her, the license was a formality. The water had already claimed her.
Jenny is the proud founder of Outta Line Charters, her own take on a charter company that blends adventure, storytelling, and a little bit of nautical know-how. Docked at Fort McAllister Marina, her boat, aptly named Outta Line, is both her sanctuary and her classroom—a vessel for escape, discovery, and connection.
“If you don’t have a boat or have a friend with a boat, you miss out on a lot of beauty around here. I take people to places they’d never otherwise get to go,” Jenny says, her eyes lighting up like the sun on the water. “Offshore is my thing—it’s where I love to go.”

Her trips are as versatile as the coastline itself—ranging from deep-sea excursions to river cruises to leisurely beach days for families who want to soak up the sun without owning their own watercraft. Each charter is completely customizable. “All you have to do is call me and tell me your idea,” she laughs. “I’ll take care of the rest.”
But don’t let the easygoing charm fool you—Jenny Sharp is one of the finest fishermen around. Her favorite story? A family triumph. She and her family took a trip offshore one morning. Within the first hour of setting out the lines, they landed a Blue Marlin—the crown jewel of sport fishing—a bucket list fish. But it wasn’t the fish that meant the most.
“I’ve always been the leader and captain with my boys; I tried to teach them everything I know. But, as children do, they were always goofing around and I had no idea if they were paying attention, but that day, I looked over, and the boys just… knew what to do,” Jenny recalls. “They had been listening, and learning all these years. That fish was on the first line we set out. They ran the lines off the back of the boat with no guidance or need for my lead. I felt so much joy! That was the real win.”
Raised on the land and sea of this wild, beautiful Lowcountry, her boys, Hunter and Saylor, grew up with rifles and rods in hand, chasing whitetails through the woods or reds through the marsh. She gave them the coast, and in return, they gave her proof that the legacy of this life will endure. Side note, Jenny says she’s now working on her grandson’s love affair with fishing. He might only be one, but he has a custom fishing chair being made for her boat as we write this article!
Now, Jenny is sharing that legacy with more than just her family. Whether she’s reeling in the big one or pointing out historic landmarks across our barrier islands, every trip aboard her boat carries something more: a story, a lesson, a moment to remember.
“This place has so much history—so much soul,” she says. “I love teaching people. I love watching their eyes light up when they see dolphins off the bow, or catch their first fish, or realize just how alive this coast really is.”
